I am an artist, photographer and teacher living and working in Greater Manchester, North West England.
Art
In my abstract gestural paintings I work mainly with acrylic paint on canvas, often applying thick layers of paint with brushes of varying sizes. I work quickly and spontaneously using a wet-on-wet technique. The exploration of gesture, abstraction and the sometimes incidental is important in my work. I enjoy experimenting with a range of different colours, sometimes using fluorescent paint. The paintings can often resemble natural phenomena, such as agate, geodes, marble or even sliced flesh.
Each painting is available to purchase through Etsy or Saatchi Art. Please click on the painting you are interested in to be redirected to Etsy where you can purchase the original painting (unless it has already been sold).
I am also available for commissions, in which you can choose the colour and size, feel free to send me a message here or email at contact@anthonylawlor.co.uk.
Photography
For my fine art photography I am mainly concerned with the natural landscape. I shoot landscape photographs throughout various scenic locations throughout the United Kingdom, such as the Peak District, Lake District, Lancashire, Snowdonia and the Scottish Highlands. I endeavour to time my visits to fall during the golden hour where I find the colours and light to be most striking. I am especially obsessed with capturing the crystal clear, mirrored reflections that appear in still bodies of water.
You can view my landscape photographs here and a wider range on Flickr. You can purchase prints of my landscape photographs at Pixels and Fine Art America.
Teaching
I have also taught Art and Photography for over 10 years and currently teach in a school in Manchester, North West England. When teaching I endeavour to inspire and try to ignite the creative sparks in young people. I hope that these students continue to explore art and photography and other creative endeavours in their future lives.
