“The use of spontaneous brush strokes is primary to my work. A contrast to the apparent movement of the paint is created by the use of structured segments. The viewer’s senses are further manipulated by the use of vivid fluorescents. Whether or not my work is influenced by my own subconscious is open to interpretation.” Anthony Lawlor is an artist living and working in Manchester. He has recently completed a BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University. He works mainly with acrylics and has applied influence from many artists, but especially that of David Reed and Bernard Frize. Originally applying direct influence from music, his work eventually evolved into standalone pieces. For some people the work sometimes resembles natural phenomena, such as or geodes and marble or even the surface of vinyl. |
